For 54 years, I have been proud to be part of the Paragould community, including 35 years as a Paragould business owner and three years as an alderman.
When I ran for city council four years ago, I felt it was my duty to serve the Paragould community. I am running for re-election to continue that service and follow through to ensure the city remains financially sound as we build and maintain our infrastructure, improve our public safety, attract quality jobs, and enhance our quality of life. I want to ensure Paragould is where current and future generations want to live and raise their families.
Over the past decades, our leadership has worked diligently to build a strong financial foundation for our city while maintaining steady growth. I feel we must keep a fiscally sound city while investing in our infrastructure. I have worked with the Mayor to maintain a balanced budget and use our reserves judiciously.
We have much to be proud of as residents of Paragould. Our police, fire department, the 911 center, and first responders do a tremendous job keeping our city safe and secure. We have very few issues compared to other cities of our size. I have worked with the Mayor and the department heads to ensure they have the necessary resources in order to perform their jobs safely and effectively, while also ensuring that our citizens are able to easily communicate their needs to our public safety agencies.
Our hard working residents are employed by a variety of industries who have help build and finance our city endeavors. I am working with the Mayor, the city council, and other organizations to attract more employment opportunities in technology and developing industries.
Our local businesses have been a tremendous asset to our community. Many of these businesses have prevailed through many generations. These businesses contribute to Paragould's growth by attracting visitors from other neighboring areas. I support programs and systems that encourage local business growth.
Our community center, pools, parks, and sports fields rival those of many larger cities. These outdoor spaces attract young families and companies looking to create jobs. I am working with the Mayor and other council members to identify other amenities that would help the city attract and keep future generations in Paragould.
Paragould has opportunities and potential, and I am dedicated to projects that help our city be where I and future generations want to live. Is Paragould perfect? No, but that is why I am running for re-election. We still have work to do to help Paragould be the best it can be. Together, we can keep Paragould moving forward as we build for the future.
